Best lamb we had all ever tasted!

Found this gastro pub with rooms on Trip Advisor and booked 4 rooms for my 3 sisters and I as we were visiting Daylesford the following day. We were NOT disappointed! Our rooms were cosy, clean, welcoming and warm. The bar and restaurant areas were heated from log burning stoves and had a lovely Christmassy aura. We booked supper which was beyond 10 out of 10 as the 2 ‘shared’ rack of lamb we ate were undoubtedly the best lamb we had all ever tasted! Served with delicious side dishes we savoured every bite! The staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive. We all enjoyed our stay immensely.

Best Sunday Roasts

My parents were down for the weekend and we needed somewhere nice for Sunday lunch. We live in the Cotswolds but had never been here. It did not disappoint. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The fire was on and the pub had a great atmosphere.
We all had the Sunday roasts. The beef was cooked to perfection and was extremely soft and tasty. Crispy roast potatoes but not overdone. Great portion size and the Yorkshire puddings were the size of baby’s head!
You made my Father’s Day when he asked if there was any crackling left and the waitress came back with a little plateful! :)
Would definitely recommend, especially as all food is sourced locally.
Thank you for a very pleasant couple of hours.

Sweet gem of a place

We had an exceptional time. So glad we found this sweet gem of a place. Just a lovely setting for dinner. Best meal we ate in the Cotswolds. I wish we had known about this Inn before we booked elsewhere. I would have loved to stay here too. Kudos Norman!!

Best Sunday Lunch in ages

What an excellent place this is!
A couple of delicious Wye valley beers and some lovely Savignon Blanc were suitable for a delicious Sunday lunch.

The starters were excellent. After a couple of pardon peppers, the home cured gravadlax, succulent scallops, super sesame prawn toast and a lovely stuffed mushroom were great introductions to the skills of the chef.

We then enjoyed beautifully rare striploin of beef, lovely Gloucestershire shoulder of pork, and a skilfully cooked ribeye steak with simple but well cooked vegetables. The honey roasted parsnips were a great success.

We managed to squeeze in a fruit crumble with home-made custard, a chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, a gin and tonic sorbet and pineapple tart tatin with coconut ice cream. All of these dishes were beautifully cooked and tasted superb. The chef is clearly very talented.

Service was very efficient but warm and took care of all our needs - the staff were
a credit to the management and their training.

Sunday roast cooked to perfection

We enjoyed the roast beef and some fish dishes, very tasty and the beef was cooked to perfection. We were made to feel very welcome, service was great. We ate out on the patio , the inside of the pub looked very nice too. All in all an excellent experience.

Very dog friendly place

We stayed here two years ago and decided to stay again. Such a lovely and friendly inn. Spotless and comfortable room, great staff and great food. Very dog friendly, our girl Willow loves it at the Horse and Groom with all the treats and fuss she gets. Highly recommend a visit.

It's clearly popular with locals

A very attractive traditional pub in a quiet village just outside Stow on the Wold. They were able to cater for a celiac diner, a mobility compromised diner and a dog 😊 lovely staff, great food and it's clearly popular with locals.

So pleased I chose this restaurant

I was asked where I wanted to go for a birthday meal, and I'm so pleased I chose this restaurant. Every aspect was excellent. Prawn and Crab Cocktail, superb ribeye, and pineapple tart tartin. Yes it costs more, but it is definitely worth it.

Great Sunday Lunch

Six of us came here for lunch on a Sunday and this was the halfway point for us to meet up . It was well worth the journey with great friendly staff and good food. We shared starters between us, spring rolls as recommended by the server, freshly made they tasted superb. 3 of us had the roast pork and we all agreed it was delicious along with all the trimmings that came with it. Everybody else went for the beef which didn’t disappoint. Don,t normally have dessert but was tempted by the sticky toffee pudding which again was fantastic. As the designated driver I tried a nonalcoholic gin which was recommended by the staff, well it lived up to the waitress description and was really refreshing and a nice change from lime and soda. This establishment is really dog friendly as stated on their website which was great for our small dog. This could be our regular meeting point after this visit.
